Sun spots and age spots are a result of sun damage and sun overexposure. Although harmless, these color-containing pigmented cells never completely disappear. Over time, as your skin gets thinner, these groupings of pigments become more visible. Our advanced Intense Pulse Light (IPL) system safely removes these spots and reveals the beauty beneath.

1. Avoid tweezing, waxing, bleaching or chemical peels or any irritants such as Retin-A (or generic brands), Benzoyl Peroxide, salicylic acid or astringents one to two weeks prior to your photofacial treatment.
2. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for 1-2 months before and throughout the course of the photofacial treatment so as to reduce the chance of dark or light spots. Use sunscreen SPF 30 or higher at all times throughout the photofacial treatment when going outside.
3. The day of your photofacial treatment, thoroughly wash the area that you would like treated. Do not apply any oils, perfumes or creams of any kind to the area that you will have treated.
4. Do not take Benadryl, Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) or Naproxen (Aleve) the day of the treatment. Tylenol is ok.
5. Immediately after the photofacial treatment, you should apply an ice pack, as there may be mild swelling and/or redness.
6. It is normal for the treated area to feel like sunburn for a 24 or 48 hours. You should use a cold compress if needed. Avoid any trauma to the skin for up to 2-5 days, such as bathing with very hot water, strenuous exercise, or massage. Do not get facials, microdermabrasions, or any type of peel for two weeks before and two weeks after the treatment.
7. Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin to achieve your best results. If you experience any crusting, apply antibiotic cream. Some physicians recommend aloe vera gel or some other after sunburn treatment such as Destin. Dark pigmented people may have more discomfort than lighter skin people and may require the aloe vera gel or an antibiotic ointment longer. Follow instructions as specified by your IPL photofacial professional.
8. Makeup may be used after the treatment has quit swelling unless there is epidermal bleeding. It is recommended to use new makeup to reduce the possibility of infection. Keep the area moist. Any moisturizer without alpha-hydroxy acids will work.
9. You may shower after the IPL treatment in tepid water. The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry and NOT rubbed.
10. You may experience redness and / or bruising from five to fourteen days after the photofacial treatment.

Chemical Peels are a non-invasive procedures that promote cell growth, and produce smoother and clearer skin. This treatment involves applying a chemical solution over the entire area being treated. This solution is used to remove the outer layer of the skin, so that a smother, glowing and healthier layer of skin can appear.

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation and skin rejuvenation procedure. The microdermabrasion treatment is performed by a machine that removes the top layer of the skin, and then vacuums the dead cells away. It reduces or eliminates fine facial lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging and it can also improve the appearance of acne scars and other light scarring.
Before the microdermabrasion treatment you should refrain from waxing or tanning, and apply sunscreen in a daily basis. You can experience some redness and irritation after the procedure but it should fade within 24 hours. You should avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen and moisturizer for a few days.

7. Do not pick or prematurely peel the skin as this will cause hyper-pigmentation and/or hypo-pigmentation and/or surface scars
8. Return in one week for a post treatment follow-up visit with your skincare specialist. This is a very important part of the chemical exfoliation treatment.
