Clients need to be sure they have not had the area they need treated waxed, tweezed or used any depilatories (Nair, etc.) for at least a full four weeks. Permanent reduction is achieved by targeting the hair in the active growth cycle. Don't be misled! IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal and Laser hair removal technology can ONLY treat actively growing hair.
Refrain from tanning for four full weeks before receiving treatment. This is due to several reasons. In order to effectively treat any area, we must correctly be able to determine your Skin Type. Skin Types are graded from Skin Type 1 (Extremely fair skinned) to Skin Type 6 (Extremely Dark Skinned).
Correctly determining your skin type allows us to select the most effective method to apply IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and Laser technologies available to produce the most effective, pain free treatments possible. The other reason patients should refrain from tanning for a full four weeks is the interaction between the light waves and your body's melanin. As we mentioned before, the Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Light are absorbed by the melanin in your hair, leading to a deactivation of the hair growth. Melanin is essentially what gives your hair and skin color. If your body has additional melanin, then energy is wasted. The light is absorbed by the melanin in the skin instead of focusing on the hair follicles; potentially causing thermal damage. That is why clients should refrain from tanning at least four weeks before treatments.
Two days before your treatment shave the areas with a one blade-razor.
The day of treatment, thoroughly wash the area that you would like treated. Do not apply any oils, perfumes or creams of any kind to the area that you will have treated. This includes no deodorant to the underarms if you are having the underarms treated.
Following these simple procedures will help ensure a safe and effective treatment.
